quirky wedding shoesPINIMAGE

With more and more brides choosing to bring their own tastes to the styling of their day and moving away from the pressure of having a ‘traditional’ wedding it’s been great to see brides embracing a bit of colour, pattern, and general quirkiness when it comes to their wedding shoes. So I thought I’d do a bit of styling inspiration post for any brides to be out there that are looking for shoes with a bit of quirk! I’ll be looking at a few of my own personal favourite brands and what options there are out there for the non-traditional bride.

Irregular Choice

A firm favourite amongst offbeat brides and with good reason! If you’re like bride Lucy in my header image and an Irregular Choice fan you may want to consider their wonderfully fun, colourful, quirky designs for your big day. I’ve seen lots of brides opt for Irregular Choice and with such a wide variety of styles and heel heights it’s easy to see why as they really can cater for everyone. Known for their limited edition character heels in the form of animals, famous characters, and mini brides and grooms, along with those beautiful perspex coloured gradient heels on their designs such as Hello Ha and Mutiny, they really stand out from the crowd in terms of options out there for brides to be.

Miss L Fire

Catering specifically for ladies looking for vintage styled footwear, Miss L Fire create glamorous limited edition designs for brides wanting to feel like a real vintage starlet on their big day. I love Miss L Fire for how classic their designs are. As seen in the designs on the top row below their designs really encompass the stunning vintage styles of the mid 20th century. I just love the lucite heels and those artificial berries! They also do a range of both heeled and flat designs and similarly to Irregular Choice aren’t averse to a bit of glitter!

You may also want to check out US brand b.a.i.t footwear for similarly pretty wedding shoes with a vintage twist in a variety of colours.

I think my personal favourites of the bunch are potentially the Rockerfellas by Miss L Fire, how about you?

I hope that’s given anyone looking for something a bit different for their wedding day a bit of inspiration. If you have any other recommendations of quirky wedding shoes for fellow brides to be do leave a comment!

Becky xoxo

stanton moor engagement shootPINIMAGESophie and Callum chose the location of the Nine Ladies stone circle in Stanton Moor Derbyshire, for their pre wedding shoot. I’d been to Stanton Moor with my own boyfriend a while back but we didn’t manage to actually find the circle, so it was nice to finally see it thanks to guides Callum and Sophie who were familiar with it having visited previously for a picnic or two! I’ve hung out with Sophie a few times now since she booked me as her wedding photographer as it turned out we had a fair bit in common (she also shares an interest in photography herself along with vintage style clothing, veggie food, and Adventure Time) plus she’s generally a cool lady and having now spent time with both Sophie and Callum together it was clear to see how well they compliment each other. Pretty much every photo of them together seemed to result in Sophie having such a big smile on her face. Engagement shoots are such an ideal time for me to get to know my couples better.  Sophie and Callum will be getting married in Buxton later this year and I can’t wait! It’s sounding just as cool as the bride and groom to be :)

Here’s a mini video I put together of snippets from the shoot

So it’s that time again already, this year’s gone so fast! I’ve put together my end of year post of just a few of my favourite images from 2015. Although it’s a bit of a mammoth task for us photographers to go through so many photos and try and whittle it down to our favourites I’ve really enjoyed looking back through them all again, my face was hurting last night from smiling so much looking at so many happy faces looking out at me. It’s quite a lovely task really to be able to revisit all the people and places that made 2015 what it was for Becky Ryan Photography, and I’m so thankful to each and every one of my couples that played a part in it, you’re all awesome and I have so many lovely memories from each one of your days. Doing these posts reminds me how lucky I am to have such epically awesome/fun/quirky/funny/sweet and super lovely couples choose me to play a part in such a special day. My 2015 weddings once again took me all over the country, with several visits back to my home town of Liverpool which is always lovely and to new venues in beautiful Dorset and Oxfordshire along with plenty nearer to home. Then on my birthday I got to shoot Nick Helm, which was pretty fab. On a personal note we finally got our own place, yay! And I’m pretty excited about having our first Christmas in our own home. So it’s been a busy but pretty great year! Thanks so much for being a part of it and following my work <3 Much love! Becky xoxo P.S See you soon 2016 brides and grooms to be!! I can’t wait!
