So here’s the low down on what will happen on the day…
You’ll arrive at our amazing venue and find lots of ample parking on the driveway, ideally 10/15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. You’ll make your way upstairs to find Sarah and Bethany likely currently putting the final touches to two ladies in hair and make up whilst Becky is off shooting in another part of the house. You’ll likely have time at this point to get a cuppa or browse our rail in the dressing area with some bits and bobs you can borrow such as retro style robes or accessories a plenty in the form of vintage style headwear and flower clips.
You’ll then be worked on by either Sarah or Bethany for around 50 minutes whilst another lady is next to you having her hair and make up done, before you swap round for the next 50 minutes.
You’ll then go through to the dressing area and get changed for the look you want to go for for your first set! Becky will come get you when you’re ready and based on what you want to wear, decide on the best area of the house to shoot you in first. She’ll direct you during the shoot but it will all be very informal and non-cheesy! You’ll have time to change into a second look for another set of images, and will likely be shooting each of your sets in multiple areas of the house, such as a the living area, the bedroom, the pool room, and outside. You’ll be shooting for around 40 minutes. When you’re finished you’re free to get changed and either have a little sit down with some more tea and biscuits or head home.
Within 2 weeks you will have seen at least some of your images, and likely have received a link to your password protected personal gallery of the watermarked full set of images from your set. From this set you can then choose your favourite 5 images to receive full resolution and watermark free via email.
What do I need to bring?
Just your lovely self and whatever you would like to wear for your shoot! Also maybe think about accessories/jewellery. If you will be at the venue over lunch time you are also welcome to bring food, however there will be light refreshments (the important stuff – tea and biscuits) available on the day to keep you going, and there is a supermarket not far from the location.
What should I wear?
Although this is called a boudoir shoot, you don’t necessarily have to wear ‘boudoir’ attire, wear whatever you feel comfortable and confident in! The apartment itself is very 60s, so clothing reminiscent of this era would work well. There is time to have one outfit change should you wish to, or you are welcome to focus on one outfit in separate locations of the venue. For our Summer shoot in June we will once again have use of the pool! So if you fancy bringing a pin up perfect swimsuit and doing shots on the board or in the water itself just have it with you on the day!
I haven’t done anything like this before and I’m nervous…
I promise that there’s nothing to be nervous about 🙂 I’ve been on the other side of a boudoir shoot too so I know the feeling, but once you get there and realise that everyone is lovely and we all want you to feel comfortable and confident then I’m sure the excitement will overcome the nerves! And you will look absolutely incredible after Sarah and Bethany have finished with you, I’m sure you’ll feel a million dollars and help you channel your inner Marilyn or Dita for the shoot! The shoot itself will be really informal, we’ll discuss any particular areas of your body that you like best or where you dont so I’m aware of what to draw attention to and what not to and to pose you accordingly. I’ll also talk to you before the shoot about whether or not there are any particular poses that you’d like to recreate. Have a look through our images from the first event for some inspiration perhaps!
Can I bring a friend with me?
Due to restrictions at the venue, at the owner’s request we are only allowed a limited number of people at the location at a time so the general rule to this one is a no, however we can make exceptions so please get in touch to discuss. However no boyfriends/partners are allowed to respect the privacy of the other ladies shooting due to the nature of the shoot (some ladies may be moving around the venue in boudoir attire for their images).
My wardrobe is a bit limited, are there any items I can borrow for my shoot?
We will be bringing a few items with us on the day, more so in the way of accessories than full outfits (hats, heels, fascinators, hair flowers, robes), but we could potentially help with dresses too, just get in touch and let me know if you think you may need something 🙂
What should I do with my hair?
Sarah requests that her clients ideally have ‘day old’ hair, this helps with styling, and free of products. Similarly for your make up please arrive with clean make-up free skin.
Will you be doing any retouching?
Although I’m generally against retouching as a self imposed rule (apart from the odd blemish or anything that isn’t usually a permanent part of the person/can be covered with make-up), based on what we’re aiming for with this shoot, beautiful confident bombshells exuding vintage glamour, I will be a *little* more edit heavy than usual, but definitely never taking away who you are, you won’t be unrecognisable by the end! Just enhancing your natural beauty through a bit of brightening and softening here and there! However if you want no retouching whatsoever other than my usual tonal/colour edits then please say so as this is absolutely fine!
I’m not sure what hair and make up I want on the day, can you help?
Check out Sarah and Bethany on Facebook for inspiration and examples of their work via the following links for some great inspiration! You can also contact them directly to discuss what you have in mind prior to the shoot should you wish! (Once again if there was a particular look that you liked from our previous event then letting the ladies know will greatly help them get an idea of what you would like to go for).
How much time will the makeover and shoot take?
Your full makeover and shoot will take around 2 and a half hours.
How will I receive my images?
I will be editing your full set and uploading them to a private watermarked gallery for you to view via email, of which you can choose 5 favourites to receive the full resolution files for (suitable for print). If you would like to purchase further full res files these will be available for 3 months after the shoot and charged at £15 an image.
Can I buy prints?
There will be the opportunity to order prints from your shoot directly from your password protected gallery in various sizes!
