It was wonderful to be invited to photograph a stunning burlesque show last December. Leicester’s own ‘The Peacock Lounge’, produced by India Starr.

It was a fabulous night and it had been far too long since I photographed (or even attended) a cabaret night and it was great, I’d love to shoot more similar events.

The line up at this show were Velma Von Bon Bon, The Vixen Trio, John Celestus, Lou Safire, Fou Fou Kaboom and Vicky Butterfly headlined.  Velma was the only performer I had seen previously (she was on at my very first show infact over 10 years ago back in Liverpool) so it was great to see her newest acts and a whole bunch of performers that were new to me.

It was an absolutely cracking line up and in such a wonderful space of a venue, it was a joy to photograph and capture some of that atmosphere.

When Elvis and Zoe first got in touch telling me about their plans, I just knew I had to be their photographer.  They described wanting to make their wedding day one that ‘stands out’ from the crowd.  I love when couples want to be unique and put their personalities into their day. They kept an informal atmosphere with the emphasis on being about having fun. With vintage fairground elements, some live music, and outdoor setting, I knew it was going to be a fabulous one!

The couple met through their love of motorbikes (they were paired together in a race!), and share an appreciation for vintage. This always gets a thumbs up from me! For example they each went for a vintage look for their wedding style on the day. They also chose a vintage trio from a 40’s event they had attended to provide live music for the reception. Zoe’s family own an old-school funfair business (Keeling’s), so some of their items were incorporated into the day too.  The fairground elements were a very cool addition, adding to the atmosphere and providing fun activities for guests at their outdoor reception.

They were married at Chadkirk Chapel in Romiley, Stockport, with their main reception being held at a tipi on family land in near Buxton, Derbyshire.  Zoe’s hair and make up was done by Bethany of The Vintage Beauty Parlour, their live music at the reception was provided by vintage trio The Swingettes.

Feast your eyes on their magical day below!

PINIMAGEI have one sentence to express how fun this one was – I got to give riding a rodeo bull a go and the groom arrived at the venue in the Mutt Cutts wagon from Dumb & Dumber.  Yep! Welcome to David and Rachel’s awesome wedding!

When David e-mailed me saying he hopes the wedding car will be a ‘first’ for me it did make me wonder what it could be, but I don’t think I’d have ever guessed this one.  It really put a smile on everyone’s face, mine included haha! Possibly my favourite Jim Carrey film…

I also had another surprise on the day that had been kept hush hush, they’d hired a rodeo bull! That made for some awesome photos, annnnd in a quiet moment I may have got to have a little go myself (I’d never been on one and was quite proud of my 30 seconds or whatever it was haha).

I always like shooting at Donington Park Farmhouse,  I photographed one of my first ever weddings there and have returned many times now!  Barn venues are lovely backdrops and I do like the rustic feel.  Rachel’s beautiful dress fitted the setting so well and with her gorgeous flowers too she looked absolutely stunning.

Anyway, less writing, more photos! Enjoy this peek into their awesome day!
