I knew from as soon as I met Michael and Kayte at their engagement shoot at Speke Hall that they would be a joy to hang out with on their wedding day. They’re just a super lovely, perfect for each other, sweet couple! Plus Kayte shares my love of a bit of red lipstick and winged liner and was always going to go for the vintage look for her big day! Their wedding ‘cars’ consisted of the fabulous choices of a red bus and super cute VW camper!

They were married at St George’s Hall in Liverpool followed by a reception at Aigburth People’s Hall where they had cakes and macaroons for their guests and musician Calder McLaughlin providing their music for the night.

Now for the photos (Michael’s reaction when he first saw Kayte is one of my favourite moments I’ve caught at a wedding, it’s so sweet!)…

Having attended a fair few weddings now, I have to say there’s something that a live performer brings to the atmosphere at weddings that you just can’t beat. If you’ve headed over to my ‘Friends’ page for my list of recommended suppliers for your wedding day you may have already come across Jamie Beau and Lisa Marie Rose…

Today I wanted to introduce you guys to the two, very different, recommended weddings singers/songwriters. If you’ve been considering some live music for your wedding, whether it’s some acoustic loveliness for your ceremony or for your first dance and reception, Jamie or Lisa Marie could be what you’ve been looking for…

Jamie Beau

Jamie describes his music as ‘Acoustic, percussive, alternative rock-folk’. I first heard Jamie perform at a cabaret night a few friends of mine were involved with a couple of years back and he’s since been featured on BBC radio and gigged all over the country performing his own music whilst also offering covers at events and weddings.

Favourite artists to cover: Michael Jackson / Bon Iver / Mumford and sons Favourite song to perform: Sisqo – Thong Song haha! My music in three words: chilled, diverse & meaningful

He’s such a talented musician and his acoustic folk style is perfectly suited to both the ceremony as well as evening receptions.  He just recently put his heart and soul into his debut album, check it out!

Lisa Marie Rose

If you’re planning a vintage styled wedding Lisa is absolutely perfect! Inspired by the likes of Elvis Presley, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash and Imelda May, Lisa perfectly captures the country and rockabilly sounds of a bygone era. She recently followed in the footsteps of some of her idols and recorded at none other than the legendary Sun Studios! If you’re after someone to bring some good old fashioned rock n roll to your wedding Lisa’s your lady!

Fave artists to cover: Hank Williams, Janis Martin, Elvis Presley Fave song to play: Lovesick Blues by Hank Williams My music in 3 words: vintage, country, acoustic

As well as offering her services as a stunning covers singer and guitarist, Lisa is also a talented songwriter in her own right, I heard this new song from her this week and it would make such a sweet song for a wedding!

Today I’m sharing this fun Brighton engagement shoot with you all. A favourite location of theirs, and somewhere I’d never been to before so it was amazing to have a good reason to visit Brighton! Such a fun, quirky and colourful place. It was great to hang out with Clare and Krisja for a bit before their wedding day, wandering down the waterfront and the pier before going to a cupcake bakery they recommended, visiting the famous Choccywoccydoodah and finally exploring some of the vintage shops! I definitely need to head back to Brighton again soon!

You can see Clare and Krisja’s Nottingham Wedding Photography here!

With more and more brides choosing to bring their own tastes to the styling of their day and moving away from the pressure of having a ‘traditional’ wedding it’s been great to see brides embracing a bit of colour, pattern, and general quirkiness when it comes to their wedding shoes. So I thought I’d do a bit of styling inspiration post for any brides to be out there that are looking for shoes with a bit of quirk! I’ll be looking at a few of my own personal favourite brands and what options there are out there for the non-traditional bride.

Irregular Choice

A firm favourite amongst offbeat brides and with good reason! If you’re like bride Lucy in my header image and an Irregular Choice fan you may want to consider their wonderfully fun, colourful, quirky designs for your big day. I’ve seen lots of brides opt for Irregular Choice and with such a wide variety of styles and heel heights it’s easy to see why as they really can cater for everyone. Known for their limited edition character heels in the form of animals, famous characters, and mini brides and grooms, along with those beautiful perspex coloured gradient heels on their designs such as Hello Ha and Mutiny, they really stand out from the crowd in terms of options out there for brides to be.

Miss L Fire

Catering specifically for ladies looking for vintage styled footwear, Miss L Fire create glamorous limited edition designs for brides wanting to feel like a real vintage starlet on their big day. I love Miss L Fire for how classic their designs are. As seen in the designs on the top row below their designs really encompass the stunning vintage styles of the mid 20th century. I just love the lucite heels and those artificial berries! They also do a range of both heeled and flat designs and similarly to Irregular Choice aren’t averse to a bit of glitter!

You may also want to check out US brand b.a.i.t footwear for similarly pretty wedding shoes with a vintage twist in a variety of colours.

I think my personal favourites of the bunch are potentially the Rockerfellas by Miss L Fire, how about you?

I hope that’s given anyone looking for something a bit different for their wedding day a bit of inspiration. If you have any other recommendations of quirky wedding shoes for fellow brides to be do leave a comment!
