We’re back at the West Mill for my first wedding of 2017! Despite going into my fourth year of business now, my first wedding of the year is always somewhat ‘scary'(!), but I couldn’t have had it with a nicer couple which definitely helped with start of the year nerves!  The bride and groom were Raeesah and Tim, who you may have seen on the blog previously during their Matlock Bath Engagement Shoot.

Tim and Raeesah met back when they were at university in York, (and now actually work together at another university where they’re based up in Durham!). They’re keen to get out and about with Tim being a keen cyclist and Raeesah is into her running. The couple seem to like a challenge. After graduating they moved to the North of Thailand together, which was the first time they lived together! Also, for their honeymoon they managed to conquer Mount Kinabalu, the highest mountain in the Malay archipelago at 4095m! Something tells me their married life together is going to be an adventurous one 🙂

On the wedding day itself I loved the family involvement. Tim’s Dad started the day off by conducting the ceremony and Raeesah’s sister, a singer, helped bring it to a close by joining their wedding band for the performance of the first dance.

Thank you so much guys for having me their on your day, I wish you every happiness as a new Mr and Mrs!

I’ve got a special little Wollaton Hall engagement shoot to share with you all today. Kay and Andy and their lovely Sam chose a location that they had visited regularly as a trio over the years, the beautiful grounds of Wollaton Hall. Pooch Sam was rescued by the couple years earlier and had become part of the family. Unfortunately due to old age Sam wasn’t in the best of health come the start of this year and although they would have loved to have him at their wedding this Spring, they knew it was looking unlikely so couldn’t not have some photos with him instead of a traditional engagement shoot session. So it was a bittersweet day, but we got some lovely photos captured for Andy and Kay to treasure in the future <3

My 2017 got off to a lovely start with a close-to-home wedding at The West Mill, Derby, with super sweet couple Raeesah and Tim! It was a family and friends focused day with Tim’s Dad conducting the ceremony and one of Raeesah’s sisters joining their reception band in a performance of their first dance number. Here are just a few sneaky previews of their day for now, full blog post coming soon!

In January I tried my hands at a little something new, producing a music video for singer-songwriter friend Lisa-Marie. It was a last minute idea really, and we only had an hour to shoot it in between makeover shoots at our ‘The Starlet Suite‘ venue, but I think we made pretty good use of the time and I’m happy to share the final little product we created! So, check out Lisa’s beautiful song, Blue Swallow Motel and see what you think! She’s a very talented song-writer, but does also sing covers which you can listen to over on her Youtube Channel. She does take bookings for weddings and events too so pay her a visit should you be looking for a musician for your day (especially if you’re planning something vintage inspired!).

I couldn’t not take a few photos too between filming….
