Somewhere special to Kayleigh and Karl, having had their first date at Alton, and many days out along the Watercress Line, the bride and groom to be decided that it would make an ideal location for their engagement shoot!

I can’t wait to shoot Kayleigh and Karl’s wedding next year, they’re going to make such a stylish bride and groom!

We’re heading up to Sheffield on the blog today for the colourful, fun and laid back wedding of Dee and Stuart.

Their ceremony was held at Sheffield town hall which was followed by an intimate reception with their nearest and dearest at Brocco hotel and restaurant.

In their initial emails Dee and Stu described their wedding as being ‘laidback, intimate, unfussy, warm’ which I think sounds about right, but I’d also throw in fun, colourful, wonderful, and personal. Human. From the get go in her emails Dee came across as so open and her personality really came across in every word. Through the planning process leading up to the wedding and on meeting the three of them (Dee’s son Seth too, who walked her down the aisle), I could really see what they were about and how their wedding day really wasn’t going to be anything about the formal side of ‘being married’. It was a really relaxed getting together of those they loved and celebrating their little family coming together.  There were tears, laughter, singing in the ceremony, taxidermy rodents, and alllll the tulle.

It was another wedding that reminded me how lucky I am to work with such kick-ass couples that aren’t afraid to do things differently and what they feel their wedding day should be like. It was a day that was uniquely them, not just a wedding but ‘Dee and Stu’s wedding’, and it was awesome.

Here is the story of their day…

We’re heading to Southampton on the blog this evening for a quirky and colourful, vintage inspired wedding (with some sneaky Dinosaurs thrown in for good measure!)

During the planning stages the more I heard from Kari about their wedding day the more excited I was for it! It was also exciting to shoot my first wedding in Southampton, and at a rather cool rustic venue called The Dancing Man Brewery (the ceremony took place at Southampton registry office just round the corner from the main venue).

Vintage loving Kari chose black polka dot dresses for her bridesmaids, with colourful co-ordinating sashes and petticoats (a different colourful for each bridesmaid.  Keeping things non-traditional, both bride and groom wore converse for the day.

I think you’ll agree that the couples’ vision for their styling of the venue is just gorgeous. I loved the little dino bride and groom cake toppers created by Kari herself and the records used as place holders (Richard happens to be a graphic designer so he mocked up the song title labels with their guests names!).

They had a super cute first dance to a do wop song before Kari changed into dress number two, a red heart print Vivien of Holloway number, and partying the rest of the night away!
