Time for my first pet shoot of 2017 to hit the blog! Debbie, Andy, and their lovely two rescue pooches Stanley and his adoptive older sister Katie. Although I only spent a short amount of time with the foursome, I definitely picked up a few things. Stan is happy if he’s got a squeaky toy in his mouth, Katie’s happy if she’s getting some fuss on the sofa, and Debbie and Andy are happy if they’re spending time with their dogs, they clearly love them to bits.

Debbie’s brother got in touch with me last year wanting to book Debbie and Andy a pet shoot for their pooches for Christmas last year. I popped up to Ashover for the shoot itself earlier this month and got to meet the little family in person myself. We shots a few natural images at home then went for a little wander to a nearby field for the dogs to stretch their legs.

Thank you Debbie, Andy, Stanley and Katie for giving me a lovely way to spend a sunny afternoon 🙂

(Also have to add Debbie’s brother Neil’s description of why he liked my photography, as I think it’s up there amongst my fave lovely comments from clients, “It’s as if the photos themselves are all smiling!”) ^_^

A return to Derby’s The West Mill on the blog today, this time with Laura and Lee.  Creative couple Lee, a children’s book illustrator, and Laura, a design manager for Asda, planned for an informal and relaxed wedding day. Bride Laura wore an absolutely stunning non-traditional dusky pink/beige wedding dress with the most beautiful detailing in beads and a sheer patterned mesh overlay. Teamed with her edgy braided up-do she made such a fabulous bride Not forgetting the groom (seriously stylish couple here), Lee looked like he could have walked out of a classic movie alongside Cary Grant.  The groom and his best man young Oscar went for a classic deep blue suit, white shirt and bow tie.  Laura  mentioned in her first e-mail to me that they were wanting a day that was as much about their 3 children as the two of them, which I thought was super lovely, and I’ve got to say little Ivy and her awesome mix of adorableness and quirkiness gave me some awesome little moments to capture. From feeling fabulous in her sequined jacket at the start of the day with a great big smile ready to get going,  to her temporary blip before the food came out feeling tired and hungry and sitting at the table with a little frown on her face and thank you card on her head, through to busting some moves on the dance floor in the evening.  I kinda feel like most brides and grooms can relate to her three phases! Here is the story of their day…

I have my first wedding at beautiful Nottingham venue, Wollaton Hall,  to share with you on the blog today 🙂 An intimate wedding with a party of 11 in attendance including the bride and groom.

Kay and Andy wanted to celebrate their wedding with a ceremony close to home with their immediate family, before heading to France for ‘wedding day part 2’ in the snowy mountains of Val D’Isere with a group of their friends!

I’d really enjoyed the pre-wedding shoot session with Kay and Andy (and their lovely late fur baby Sam), so I had looked forward to their day, which is always nice and reminds me how of awesome my job can be! So thank you for having me you two! I hope you have a fabulous future together with many more adventures!

I thought it was about time I wrote about a new recommended wedding supplier (who are offering a cheeky discount to my brides and grooms, read on for info!), today, it’s vintage dance workshop duo Red & Ginger!

“We are huge vintage dorks and we spend hours and hours watching instructional videos, reading books and just dancing with each other to figure out new moves. When we’re not cutting a rug, we love to spend our time in the countryside, looking at lovely vintage bits and pieces in antique shops, growing vegetables in our greenhouse and being made to dress up as Star Wars characters by our daughter.”

I first saw the lovely Steve and Em, aka Red and Ginger, hosting a workshop at a local vintage event last year and thought they were just fab. Their smiley, upbeat personalities are infectious and always get everyone on the dance floor at their events. Their passion for dancing and keeping it all about having fun really comes across in their workshops.

I want to recommend them to my brides and grooms to be as I know a lot of you guys and girls are fellow lovers of all things vintage so may fancy adding them to your day. With Ceilidhs proving a popular booking with today’s couples wanting to get their evening guests to get involved, join the party, and have a laugh, why not have a vintage inspired alternative? Red and Ginger offer their unique brand of ‘hot vintage dance workshops’, teaching taster sessions in charleston, lindy hop, and swing. They’re the perfect addition to any vintage lovin’ couples’ day.

With a variety of vintage inspired wedding entertainment options available, why not check out their site for more info on first dance tuition, hen parties (where you could sneakily learn a little routine with your wedding party to surprise your guests with at the reception!), or book the duo to come host a workshop for the evening of the wedding itself.

Plus, if you are already booked in with me for your photography, Red & Ginger will offer a 10% discount on all wedding day workshop bookings! Click here to view their current brochure.

(Even if you’re not planning a wedding, and like the idea of giving some vintage dance classes a go head on over to their site and I may see you at the next one!)
