As wedding season comes to a close, I’ve managed to blog the third part of my holiday photos from earlier in the year, here we have part three, Germany!

So we only ventured into Germany for one afternoon, but it still deserves a blog. We ventured into Schwarzwald (or the Black Forest). I didn’t have any cake, but did have a black forest flavoured ice cream, nom. Next and final stop, Belgium…

time for tea matlock bathPINIMAGE

When John and Rebecca first got in touch with me they mentioned their shared love of cake, so the location for their engagement shoot was clearly meant to be! A Matlock Bath tea room engagement shoot! It was a somewhat drizzly day in Derbyshire so meeting up in this cosy little tea room seemed perfect. The location was When the Clock Strikes Three, in the town of Matlock Bath. It was lovely to get to know them better and capture some natural photos in what became apparent is a bit of a regular habitat for them being fellow cake connoisseurs!  They’ll be getting married in Derbyshire at the end of October.

becky-ryan-photography-alternative-wedding-photography_8328PINIMAGEIf we were in America Becki and Josh would definitely be described as high school sweethearts (they’ve known each other since they were eleven!). Seeing photos of them on display from when they were at school together and from various stages of their relationship on a corkboard display at their reception venue was so cute and a lovely idea!

Mr & Mrs Jarvis were married in a fabulously pretty, colourful, untraditional, and vintage inspired day in Nottinghamshire. The groomsmen wore converse, open collared shirts with their waistcoats,  and the bride, her Mum, and bridesmaid younger sister went for 50s style dresses and hair. Following their ceremony at Goosedale in Papplewick, Nottingham, the couple travelled onwards to their reception venue of Inkersall Grange Farm in a super cute white split screen vintage campervan.

If you hadn’t already guessed, bride Becki is a huge lover of all things vintage and this definitely played a part in the styling for her wedding day, but as self confessed nerds, they also wanted to incorporate a bit of comic book love, with the groomsmen opting for superhero cufflinks and socks along with comic book page inspired confetti and bunting in the tipi.  Due to working to a budget, and also simply because she enjoys crafting and upcycling, Becki opted to go diy as much as possible for her wedding day, doing her own decorations for the day and also her own flowers. Family members also helped with the diy aspect to the day creating extra bits and bobs and the brides Auntie created their wedding cakes. Instead of a formal wedding breakfast the couple chose afternoon tea for their guests to  tuck into during the speeches.  Also, as a wonderful extra little surprise for Becki, her Mum Teresa had booked a vintage singer, Rose Devine, to perform in the evening and get the party started!  To round the evening off guests were treated to fish and chips and some karaoke!

Becki and Josh had always planned for their day to be a celebration of their families uniting without the formal atmosphere of a traditional wedding, and just wanting everyone to really enjoy themselves, and with a day like that I think it would have been extremely hard for anyone not to have had a wonderful time and leave with huge smiles and awesome memories from a quirky, fun, and colourful day. Thank you for letting me a part of it Mr & Mrs Jarvis!

staffordshire wedding photographyPINIMAGE

I have a pretty and rustic homely wedding with sunflowers, an impressive naked wedding cake and vintage inspired styling to share on the blog today!

Dog trainers Katie and Ian held their wedding ceremony on the grounds of Katie’s parent’s house near Lichfield in Staffordshire. Having previously done the legal bit on a separate day, they had decided to have a wedding with a relaxed and informal vibe.

They had popcorn handed out to guests for the ceremony, summer lawn games, and live music in the form of a vintage vocalist, Becki Fishwick, in the day time and a live covers band, Under the Covers, for the reception. Along with Becki as the choice of soundtrack for the day, Katie brought her love of vintage style to the dresses for the bridal party. Katie and her bridesmaids, her two sisters, wore vintage inspired ’50s tea length flared dresses. A vintage double decker bus also made an appearance at the start of the day as transport for guests to the venue.

Owners of a couple of pooches of their own alongside running a dog training school, their tables were named after breeds of dog (of course with one ‘Tortoise’ table so their other pet wouldn’t feel left out) and styled with beautiful flowers in purple and yellow hues. Feast your eyes on the rustic prettiness of Katie and Ian’s wedding day!
